Is there a default setting for document upload notifications?

As far as I can tell the notifications on document uploads has to be set on every document if I don't want people to see them.  It would be better to have a default setting for this, am I missing something?

    Good question. 

    Under the Exchange settings, there is an option to manage auto alerts. This can be only changed by anyone with the Manager+ role. 

    Right click on the Exchange name, choose "View Exchange Settings".

    Under the Users & Access section, choose "Notifications". 

    The second option, "Send Document Alerts Automatically" is available. From here, you can set the default behavior of notifications for this particular VDR. 

    You do have the option of sending alerts as you upload documents as well.
