Question
Why does the Audit folder in my compliance archive contain XML files?
Answer
Intralinks compliance archives contain several folders with reporting and audit data files. Generally, these files are created in the Excel CSV format.
The Audit folder contains raw audit data from the exchange. Depending on the size of the data, these files may generate in the CSV format (if the data falls within the Excel limits) or the XML format (if the data exceeds the limits).
You can view the XML files in a variety of applications. To view the raw XML, use Windows applications like Notepad or WordPad. To view formatted XML, use an XML reader or browser like Firefox.
If you already have a default application set to open XML files, simply double-click the files to view them. If you don't have a default application:
- Right-click on a file.
- Choose Open With and select an application on the list. If the application you want does not appear, click Choose another app and search for it.
Note: If the XML file is large, it may take some time to load.
If you are looking for audit reports in a user-friendly format, check the Doc-Audit folder. This folder contains exported reports of file/folder properties, permissions, history, and access information. The Reports, Users&Groups, and Q&A (if applicable) folders also contain additional reports.
