If you have been given access to IRM Information Rights Management (IRM) provides security for downloaded documents. When IRM is applied, documents are encrypted before downloading, and users must enter their email address and password to view the documents. Exchange managers can revoke access at any time.-protected Microsoft Excel documents, you can perform a limited number of actions that will allow you to perform ad hoc analysis on these documents.

  • Manipulate data in protected spreadsheets to explore "what-if" scenarios

Steps

You can manipulate data only in Microsoft Excel documents created using Microsoft Excel 2007 or later (Windows) or Excel 2011 or later (macOS). No changes can be made to other protected document types. You cannot save the changes that you make.

You can perform the following tasks:

  • Resize cells
  • Edit cell values
  • Add columns and rows
  • Sort data
  • Copy protected files’ contents (if the exchange has enabled this feature)

You may be able to perform the following actions:

  • Copy protected files’ contents, if the exchange managers have enabled this feature
  • Print protected documents, if the exchange managers allow it

You cannot perform the following actions:

  • Create pivot tables
  • Create graphs
  • Save changes using either the Save or Save As command
