Document error messages
DealCentre AI identifies documents that may cause issues during document review and due diligence. The errors appear when documents are password-protected, encrypted, corrupted, or contain hidden content.
The error messages help you prepare documents without issues for sharing with buyers and other team members.
Document restrictions
These errors relate to documents with access or editing restrictions.
Password protected
What it means: The document requires a password to open.
What to do: Contact the document owner to remove the password.
Protected with Intralinks IRM
What it means: The file is secured using Intralinks Information Rights Management (IRM). Access may be restricted, and you may need a password or permission to make changes based on your assigned role.
What to do: Contact the document owner to remove the IRM protection.
Read only document
What it means: Editing is restricted on this file.
What to do: Contact the document owner to remove protection or request edit access.
Protected sheets or workbook
What it means: The Microsoft Excel spreadsheet has protected sheets. Some cells may be locked and cannot be edited without permissions. In some cases, the entire Excel spreadsheet is protected. Editing or viewing certain sheets may be blocked.
What to do: Contact the document owner to remove protection or request edit access.
Other messages
These additional messages relate to the encryption settings or hidden document data.
Unknown encryption applied
What it means: The file uses a third-party encryption method not recognized by DealCentre AI.
What to do: Review and remove the encryption.
Compromised or Invalid signature
What it means: The document's digital signature is invalid as the document may have been altered or corrupted.
What to do: Verify the document source.
Digitally signed document
What it means: The file includes a verified digital signature to confirm authenticity.
What to do: No action needed unless the signature appears invalid. This confirms the document has not been altered.
Embedded content
What it means: The document contains embedded files or objects, such as Excel files in Word documents.
What to do: Review and remove the embedded content.
PDF portfolio document
What it means: The document is a special PDF type that bundles multiple files together.This file type may impact the redaction process.
What to do: Extract the individual PDF files from the portfolio document and upload the files.
Incorrect extension
What it means: The file extension does not match its actual format.
What to do: Verify the correct file type and rename the file with the correct extension.
Contains external links
What it means: The document links to external websites or files. These links may be broken or pose security risks.
What to do: Review and remove unnecessary external links before sharing.
Comments in PowerPoint
What it means: Reviewer comments are included in the PowerPoint presentation.
What to do: Review comments for confidential data. Remove the comments before sharing the presentation externally if needed.
Notes in PowerPoint
What it means: Speaker notes are included in the PowerPoint presentation.
What to do: Review notes for confidential data. Remove the notes before sharing the presentation externally if needed.
Hidden sheets in Excel
What it means: The Excel spreadsheet contains hidden sheets.
What to do: Review the hidden sheets to ensure confidential data is not present in the document before sharing.
Hidden columns in Excel
What it means: The Excel spreadsheet contains hidden columns.
What to do: Review the hidden columns to ensure confidential data is not present in the document before sharing.
Hidden rows in Excel
What it means: The Excel spreadsheet contains hidden columns.
