The major role of a publisher is to upload files. They are limited to the tasks they can perform in the VDR. If you want a publisher to have additional capabilities, assign that person the Publisher+ role. For details about roles in VDRPro, see VDR user roles.

Tab access
Publishers have access to the following tabs:
- Documents
- Users & Groups
- Q&A, if it is enabled in the VDR and they belong to a collaboration group
Documents tab
On the Documents tab, publishers can perform the following tasks:
- Upload documents and folders. For more details, see Uploading documents.
- Create folders. For more information, see Creating a folder manually.
- Assign permissions to the documents they uploaded. For more information see, Assigning document access using the Documents tab and Assigning document access using the Permissions tab.
- Access documents they have been given permission to see. If given control rights, they can manage other documents. For more information, see Viewing documents.
Publishers cannot perform the following tasks:
- Assign permissions to folders
Users & Groups tab
On the Users & Groups tab, publishers can perform the following tasks:
- See all users except hidden managers
- See all groups and their details
Publishers cannot perform the following tasks:
- Add users; however, they can recommend to managers that users be added to the VDR. For more information, see Recommending that other users be added to your VDR.
- Create or update groups
- Update user roles
