Authenticators are software applications that provide unique, one-time passcodes. These passcodes may be needed to log into other applications, like Intralinks products, that use a security measure called multi-factor authentication MFA. MFA protects your identity when logging in.

With MFA, you provide two or more pieces of information (factors) to confirm that you are the legitimate owner of your account. With Intralinks, your password is one factor that is used to make sure that you are the person who is attempting to log into your account. A one-time passcode from an authenticator app is another factor that proves you are the rightful account holder.

You can use any authenticator app you like with Intralinks. Google, Microsoft, Okta and others have popular authenticator apps. You also can use the Intralinks Authenticator, which is part of the Intralinks mobile app. You can download an authenticator app to your mobile device or use a web-based version. You also can opt to receive passcodes by text (SMS). SMS is a convenient but less secure option.

The first time you log into Intralinks, you are asked to create a password and select a second authentication method.

The passcodes provided by authenticators can be used only once and may expire if you do not use them immediately after you receive them. If a passcode expires, you must request a new passcode in order to finish logging in.
