Transactions show the details about how much money General Partners (GPs) have requested from Limited Partners (LPs) or money they have sent to the LPs. The transactions break down the information that has been sent in notices, such as capital calls or distributions.

Steps

Adding transactions from the global menu

  1. From the Transact menu, click Transactions.
  2. Click + Add Transaction.
  3. In the Transaction Type field, select whether the transactions is a net contribution or net distribution. Additional fields are displayed and arranged on the screen based on the type selected.

    Note: Distributions are generally shown as negative numbers, and contributions as positive numbers.

  4. In the Date field, select the effective date of the transaction. This is the date when the money will be moved.
  5. In the Fund field, select the fund to which this transaction applies.
  6. In the Investment field, select the investment to which this transaction applies.

    Note: If there is only one investment associated to the fund, the investment automatically populates.

  7. In the Currency field, select the currency that applies to this transaction.

    Note: This field is automatically populated based on the currency of the fund, however, you can change it if needed.

  8. If the currency is in a different currency than that of the investor, in the FX Rate field, enter the conversion rate. If a conversion rate is entered, the Net Amount in Investor Currency amount at the bottom of the screen is automatically converted. Click Override, to enter a different amount.
  9. Enter any additional information that is relevant. At least one amount must be entered.
  10. Click Save to create the transaction or Save and Add to create the transaction and add another transaction.

Adding transactions from the document

  1. Click the Documents tab.
  2. From the grid, choose a document and click the Transactions tab. The fields populate based on the type of document: capital call, distribution, net contribution, or net distribution.

    Note: Distributions are generally shown as negative numbers, and contributions as positive number.

    The Date, Fund, and Investment fields populate based on the meta data tagged to the notice.

  3. In the Currency field, select the currency that applies to this transaction.

    Note: this field is automatically populated based on the currency of the fund, however, you can change it if needed.

  4. If the currency is in a different currency than that of the investor, in the FX Rate field, enter the conversion rate.
  5. Enter any additional information that is relevant. At least one amount must be entered.
  6. Click Save.

Viewing, editing, and deleting transactions

To view all investments and optionally edit or delete them

  1. From the Transact menu, click Transactions.
  2. Click on a transaction to view its details.
  3. (Optional.) To edit the transaction, make any changes and click Save.
  4. (Optional.) To delete a transaction, click the three dots menu and click Delete. Click Delete again to confirm.

To view or edit transactions from the documents tab

  1. Click Documents.
  2. Select the document for which you want to view transactions. Net Contribution transactions are available for Capital Calls and Net Contributions document types. Net Distribution transactions are available for Distribution and Net Distribution document types.  
  3. Click Transactions.
  4. (Optional.) Make updates as needed and click Save to create the transaction or Save and Add to create the transaction and add another transaction.

To view, edit or delete transactions specific to an asset manager, fund, investment, or investor

  1. From the Invest menu, click Asset Managers, Funds, Investments, or Investors.
  2. Select the name of the entity for which you want to view transactions.
  3. Click Transactions. All transactions will populate. The default sum of contributions and distributions is from first of the year to the current date. You can change the date by clicking in the date fields and selecting the date you want.
  4. Click the transaction you want to view, edit or delete.
  5. (Optional.) To edit the transaction, make any changes and click Save.
  6. (Optional.) To delete the transaction, click the three dots menu and click Delete. Click Delete again to confirm.

Exporting transactions

You can export the list of transactions to a Microsoft Excel file in CSV format. The Excel file will include the transactions and columns as shown on the screen. You can filter the list and select the columns to include.

  1. From the Transact menu, click Transactions.
  2. (Optional.) Filter the list of transactions using the down arrows next to the column names.
  3. (Optional.) Select the columns you want include, by clicking the Manage Columns managecolumns.png icon. Select or deselect the columns to include. Drag and drop the columns to rearrange them.
  4. Click Export.
