Access these settings by clicking Settings from the menu in the upper right of the screen. Select Exchange Settings, then click View & Download in the left panel.
Display Documents in the Browser Using Secure Viewer
This setting determines whether Secure Viewer is available on the exchange. When this option is enabled, all protected documents except Excel spreadsheets will open in a browser window.
Note: If the Allow Excel Editing in Secure Viewer setting is enabled, Microsoft Excel worksheets that are IRM protected or blocked from being downloaded will be displayed in the Secure Viewer. If the setting is disabled, these documents will be downloaded and can be viewed on the user's desktop; users can display Excel spreadsheets in Secure Viewer by right-clicking on the document and click Open in Viewer.
- If this setting is turned ON, Secure Viewer is enabled and IRM-protected documents will open in a browser window. If you are using SSO, it is recommended that you enable this setting to ensure that users can view protected documents.
- If this setting is OFF, Secure Viewer is not enabled.
Allow Excel Editing in Secure Viewer
This setting is displayed when Display Documents in the Browser Using Secure Viewer is enabled. This setting determines whether users can make temporary changes to Microsoft Excel worksheets that are either IRM protected or blocked from being downloaded from the exchange to the user's desktop. This setting can be changed by users with the Manager Plus and Hidden Manager Plus roles.
- If this setting is turned ON, users can make temporary changes to Excel worksheets that are IRM protected or blocked from being downloaded when the documents are displayed in the secure viewer. Changes will be erased when the user closes the browser tab containing the worksheet.
- If this setting is turned OFF, users cannot make any temporary changes to Excel worksheets that are IRM protects or blocked from being downloaded.
Prevent Downloading of Selected Document Types
This setting is displayed when Display Documents in the Browser Using Secure Viewer is enabled. It lets you decide which document types can be downloaded and for which document types download will be blocked. If downloads are prevented, exchange members are required to view the documents in Secure Viewer. Exchange members also cannot copy text from documents that cannot be downloaded. You can configure this setting for all documents of that type or only for protected documents.
- If this setting is turned ON, you can select which document types can be downloaded and for which document types download will be blocked.
- If this setting is OFF, all document types can be downloaded.
Allow Downloading of Documents that Cannot be Viewed Online
This setting is displayed when Prevent Downloading of Selected Document Types is enabled. It determines which users can download documents when the secure viewer cannot open them in the browser. This can occur due to file size, file type, or other errors.
Important! If you do not allow exchange members to download these documents, the members will not be able to view them, even though you have given the members permission to do so. Exchange members will be able to see the documents but will not have any way of opening them.
- If this setting is turned ON, you can select whether all users, or only users with a manager role can download documents that cannot be opened in the secure viewer.
- If this setting is OFF, users cannot download documents that cannot be opened in the secure viewer, regardless of their role.
Allow Managers to Download and Open Documents in the App Used to Create Them
This setting is displayed when Prevent Downloading of Selected Document Types is enabled. This setting determines whether users with a manager role can download documents regardless of whether the document type is configured to prevent download.
- If this setting is turned ON, users with a manager role can download document types that have been configured to prevent download.
- If this setting is OFF, users with a manager role cannot download document types that have been configured to prevent download.
