You can add asset managers, funds, companies, securities, contacts, investors, investments, portfolios and fund families. These are the InView core entities.

Steps

Entity types

Following is a brief definition of each entity type:

  • Asset manager - Manages one or more funds or other investment vehicles.
  • Fund - An investment vehicle into which one or more investors invest.
  • Company - A public or private business.
  • Security - An investment asset that can be owned directly by an investor, for example, shares of a company.
  • Contact - A person associated with a particular entity. 
  • Investor - A business group of the limited partner organization that invests. 
  • Investment - The actual ownership of the investment by the investor, for example 20 shares of a company.
  • Portfolio - A way of grouping investments together for strategic or reporting needs.
  • Fund family -  All of the funds managed by an investment company.

Adding an entity

Entities can be added individually and asset managers, funds and investments can be added in bulk.

Adding an individual entity

  1. From the Invest menu, select the entity type that you want to add, or from the Connect menu, select Contact.
  2. Click + Add Entity type, for example, +Add Asset Manager where asset manager is the entity type.
  3. Enter the information about the entity. Fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  4. Click Save.

Adding asset managers, funds and investments in bulk

  1. From the Manage menu, click Bulk Upload.
  2. Download the appropriate Excel spreadsheet template.
  3. Fill in the template. Required fields have an asterisk next to the column header name.
  4. Drag and drop the completed file or click in the box to select the file and click Open. The file is scanned for errors and the Upload Preview screen is displayed. If there are errors, fix them in the spreadsheet and upload it again.
  5. Click Upload.

Editing an entity

  1. From the Invest menu, select the entity type that you want to add, or from the Connect menu, select Contact.
  2. Click the entity that you want to edit.
  3. On the Details tab, make and changes. Fields with an asterisk (*) are mandatory.
  4. Click Save.

Viewing entity details

  1. From the Invest menu, select the entity type that you want to view, or from the Connect menu, select Contact.
  2. Click the entity that you want to view.
  3. Click the tab for the information you want to view.

Deleting an entity

  1. From the Invest menu, select the entity type that you want to delete, or from the Connect menu, select Contact.
  2. Click the entity name.
  3. Click the three dots menu at the top, right and select Delete.
  4. Click Delete.
