You can add documents and share them with investors. Any type of document can be added; however, you can only view PDF documents in the preview section.

You control which users have access to which documents by publishing them to the appropriate permission level. There are four levels that give the broadest access to the narrowest access. The levels are, from broadest to narrowest as follows:

  • GP/Portal level – all users that have access to the portal can see these documents if they are permissioned to an LP role for the selected document type. For example, if the General document type is selected, and all LP roles have permission to see this document type, then all users would have access to the document. You might use this level for documents such as quarterly newsletters and general announcements.
  • Investor level – documents are available to all users that have permissions to specific investors. You might use this level for documents such as summary of investments and investor-specific legal documents.
  • Fund level – documents are available to all users that have permissions on a specific fund. You might use this level for documents such as fund information, fund performance, and fund raising documents.
  • Investment level – documents are available to all users that have permissions on specific investments. You might use this level for documents such as capital calls, distributions, and tax documents.

If the person that is responsible for uploading documents is different from the person responsible for publishing the documents, you can optionally create a workflow that allows for a review step before publishing. Workflows can be created for adding documents and adding postings.

Note: Document titles and file names must not include the % symbol. If a file name contains this symbol, the document preview will not display and appears as a blank screen. You must rename the file before uploading it.

Watermarking

You can add a watermark to documents to indicate that the information is confidential. The watermark feature must be configured by an Intralinks administrator.
