I want to
- Open the archive I downloaded from Intralinks in the VHD format.
- Open the archive I downloaded from Intralinks in the ZIP format.
About this task
Depending on the option selected when the archive was ordered, you'll download either a VHD file or a ZIP file.
- VHD file - supported on Windows 10 or higher
- ZIP file - supported on Windows 10 or higher, macOS and Linux
Prerequisites
A password is required to decrypt your archive. The password was sent to you in an email.
If you didn't receive your password or lost the email, refer to Retrieving your archive password.
Steps
Downloadable VHD file
- On the Intralinks hub, click Orders & Archives.
- Click Orders on the left.
- Locate the archive and click the Download icon under the Actions column.
- When the download completes, double-click the VHD file or right-click > Mount.
- If prompted with a Windows security warning, click Open.
- Next, enter your archive password in the BitLocker window and click Unlock.
- After authenticating, you should see two new drives in your Windows File Explorer:
- Archive (drive letter): Contains the archive files with all information pertaining to the exchange.
- IL-Info (drive letter): Contains the archive confirmation letter, an invoice, shipping information, and additional files for Intralinks Support reference if assistance is needed.
- Open the Archive drive to access the contents.
Downloadable ZIP file
- On the Intralinks hub, click Orders & Archives.
- Click Orders on the left.
- Locate the archive and click the Download icon under the Actions column.
- When the download completes, extract / unzip the file on your computer.
Note: If you have any issues with unzipping the archive, we recommend trying the free 7-Zip (Windows) or Keka (macOS) applications. - Open the extracted folder.
- Next, unzip the Archive-enc or Archive folder.
- When prompted, enter your archive password.
- Open the extracted archive folder.
- Unzip the final Archive folder.
- Lastly, open the folder to view the contents.
Notes for extracting the ZIP file
- Select a location high in the system structure to avoid long folder paths (which can cause issues). For example, on a Windows machine extract directly to the C: drive.
- Extract the archive to a folder named with minimal characters (also to avoid long folder paths).
